Based in Truckee, Tommy Adkins has had a food truck since 2016. Having come to the SBDC over the years for support, when COVID-19 struck, he approached the SBDC for assistance with the PPP and EIDL applications.  During this time, Tommy experienced some challenges with the equipment in his food truck and needed additional help in obtaining capital to make the repairs and continue operations.

SBDC advisor Leslie Williams assisted Tommy with the PPP and EIDL applications and later with PPP forgiveness. Recognizing that his business model had the unique ability to operate outdoors during the COVID-19 closures, she helped him apply for a Resilience Fund loan to replace his equipment and get his food truck up and running as soon as possible.

Tommy was approved for both the EIDL and PP totaling $25K. He also received the $10k from the Resilience Fund loan, which his advisor helped to underwrite – he was funded within a week. Through his work with Leslie, Tommy was able to retain five employees during COVID-19 and repair his equipment and operate his food truck throughout the pandemic closures.
