The SBDC has devoted time to our company by offering guidance in financial management, professional analysis of our goals and an overwhelming amount of assistance in reconstructing our business plan.

We not only feel more confident as business owners, but as representatives in our community because of SBDC.

Connie Yates and Amanda Dawson

Urban Retreat is a full service day spa located on the Sacramento River in Redding.  They offer massage, waxing, nails and lash services in a variety of available packages. Connie Yates and Amanda Dawson purchased the business, but approached the SBDC for guidance with their business plan financial management.  SBDC advisor Joe Rodola reviewed the company’s financial history and the purchase contract and helped Connie and Amanda write a business plan and put together a solid financial plan.   The clients also attended the SBDC courses “How to Start Your Business” and “Marketing and Beyond”.  As a result of their work with the SBDC, in the first year Connie and Amanda increased their sales nearly three-fold, hired an additional 8 full time employees and 26 part time employees.
