We’ll set the scene for the next 7 weeks, introduce you to our culinary gurus, and dish up a platter of operational, motivational and financial tips.
2: Daily Operations and Planning for Success.
You’ll learn why businesses with a plan are six times more successful than those without.
3: Small Business Finance 101.
We demystify financial management and explore the most essential topics from a restaurateur’s perspective.
4: Marketing for Success.
You’ll discover how to reach your customers with engaging posts and how to simplify the posting process with scheduling software.
5: The Food Cost Formula.
In this session, we serve up the secrets of understanding food costs and the art of proper menu pricing.
6: Hospitality.
Here we dive into the heart of our industry, “The friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, and strangers”.
7: How to Become a Legacy Business.
We’ll identify the traits of long-term, multi-decade, and multi-generational restaurants, helping your establishment become a timeless institution in the city.

The Fine Print
- The Pittsburg EATS program is a partnership between The City of Pittsburg and the NorCal SBDC.
- The program offers technical and financial assistance to Pittsburg restaurants.
- A grant ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 is available for qualifying expenses for each eligible restaurant.
- To be eligible for the grant, businesses must meet all eligibility criteria, outlined below:
- Participating restaurants must complete a series of 7 weekly training programs provided by NorCal SBDC.
- Participating restaurants must engage in one-on-one consulting sessions with NorCal SBDC Restaurant Program advisors.
- Restaurants must attend every session and meet with each week’s advisor to fulfill eligibility requirements for the grant award.
