2019 Norcal SBDC Summer Intern Program

The Norcal 2019 Summer Internship Program offers current Humboldt State University students a two-month paid position, getting hands-on experience in their specific field, while learning the office and professional skills that will help them succeed in their careers once they graduate. In most cases, interns head back home to work with the center in their area for the summer, directly boosting economic develop in their hometowns. Since 2009, we have helped approximately 100 students jumpstart their professional careers.

  • Business students have worked on of different projects such as business plan development, marketing operations, and lead generation
  • Economic students created impact reports that are required for every center in the Norcal region
  • Journalism and Communication students helped create press releases and marketing content
  • Political Science students have assisted in policy research and drafting legislation
  • Graphic Design students create ads, flyers and marketing content
  • International Studies students work with importing/exporting and created bilingual materials and workshops
  • Information System students work with databases such as NeoSerra, Excel and other office programs.
  • Job is minimum wage $12/hr (San Fran minimum is $15/hr)
  • June 3rd-July 31st
  • 32hrs/wk

  • Alameda SBDC - Oakland - general business services, social media 
  • California Hispanic Chambers - Sacramento - business client assistance, research, social media marketing and infographic creation
  • California Capital - Sacramento - traditional and digital marketing, business finance, program development, bilingual a plus
  • Capital Region SBDC - Sacramento - facilitating workshops, google analytics, office assistance
  • GlobalSF - San Francisco - Marketing Intern - traditional and digital marketing
  • GlobalSF - San Francisco - Program Intern - market research, finance/accounting assistance, database management
  • Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy (JEDE) - Sacramento - economic policy research, outreach, social media
  • Napa-Sonoma SBDC - Santa Rosa - communications, traditional and digital marketing
  • Norcal PTAC/Norcal SBDC - Arcata - program/financial grant reporting, digital marketing, outreach, event planning, data analysis
  • North Coast SBDC - Eureka - various projects, general business services, helping businesses become worker-owned, bilingual services, graphic design, digital marketing, video production, journalism
  • San Mateo SBDC - San Mateo - traditional and digital marketing, graphic design, event planning
  • San Francisco SBDC - San Francisco - outreach, marketing, finance
  • Sierra SBDC - Truckee - outreach, interest in biomass production, digital marketing
  • Tech Futures Group - Berkeley - digital marketing, market & company research
