Many aspiring or existing business owners find that banks are not ready to provide capital to them until they are well-established and profitable. Even established businesses can find raising enough capital to allow them to grow rapidly can be a tricky process. 

The market has responded with a huge variety of online and offline alternatives. This seminar will highlight the ways small businesses have obtained alternative financing, and how they set themselves up for success prior to their capital raising activities.

Panelists

Jenny Kassan

Jenny Kassan is a business attorney with decades of experience. She is also a certified transformational coach, social entrepreneur, and finance innovator. Her formula for mission-aligned capital raising has helped diverse entrepreneurs throughout the country raise millions of dollars on their own terms.

Carlos Quintanilla

Carlos Quintanilla is a Loan Consultant with Opportunity Fund, a community lender dedicated to a more inclusive financial system. Opportunity Fund specializes in making loans to businesses whose needs don’t qualify for a traditional loan.

Hon Wong

Hon Wong is an Entrepreneur in Residence in the SBDC’s Tech Futures Group. He has extensive experience as a founder, executive, angel investor and active board member of technology startups. Technology entrepreneurs working with this group have raised over $144 million in loans, equity and grants since 2012.

Lee Lambert

Lee Lambert is the Director of the Alameda County SBDC. Entrepreneurs who have worked with the Alameda County SBDC have raised over $100 million in debt and equity financing since 2012. Lee has advised entrepreneurs and companies regarding their fund raising activities for over 25 years.
